Harpers Ferry National Historic Park - http://www.nps.gov/hafe
So much history here at the confluence of the Potomac
and Shenandoah rivers - from visits by the Founding Fathers
(Thomas Jefferson is known to have admired the view) to
the gathering of armaments for the Corps of Discovery by
Merriweather Lewis to John Brown's raid on the Federal Armory,
which was subdued by Robert E. Lee & Stonewall Jackson (as
U.S. Army officers, in 1859), to two Civil War battles,
as well as the founding of historic black Storer College.
