Orchids Of Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu Historical Sanctuary is home to over 200 species of orchids. Because there are different species blooming every month, repeated visits are required to see any more than just a handful of species.
On this particular weekend in January of 2011 I saw 21 orchid species in bloom, WOW.
There are two different trails which I like to hike while visiting Machu Picchu. The first is Machu Picchu Mountain, 1-1/2 hour hike UP from the entrance gate. And the other is the Temple of the Moon, which is a 1 hour hike DOWN from the same gate as for Wayna Picchu.
