Petrin Hill is 1043 feet high. Much of the stone used to build the major sights in Prague was quarried out of Petrin Hill. Today its slopes are covered by paths among beautiful gardens, trees and orchards. A funicular runs up to the summit from Ujezd Street in Mala Strana.
Petrin Observation Tower, a small version of the Eiffel Tower, was built in 1891 for the Jubilee Exhibition. It is only 60 metres tall, but sitting on top of the hill it overlooks the whole of Prague. The view is magnificent.... a 299 step climb, or an elevator ride, takes you to the viewing platform. On a clear day it is possible to see for 90 miles.
