Taken on a spin round in the Eye..........well, one half-hour stately rotation really!
Construction began in 1998 and at its opening in 2000 it was known as the Millennium Wheel.
The wheel's circumference is 1,392ft and it is 443ft high..... the tallest ferris wheel in Europe.
The London eye has 32 capsules that can carry a total of 800 passengers who can see up to 40 kilometres in all directions. One rotation takes about half an hour travelling at 0.6 miles per hour. This is slow enough to let passengers get on and off without the wheel having to stop.
Whoever allowed to build such a monstrosity in the middle of London should be jailed for life... But, it is serves well for collection eastern tourists and getting some pretty good income, eh ? V
