The Shard skyscraper located just outside London Bridge railway station. Construction, which began in March 2009, was completed in May 2012. It is 1,017ft tall........the tallest building in the European Union (EU). In comparison, nearby Tower Bridge, which took 8 years to build from 1886-1894, is 213ft high.
The Shard houses an observatory, luxury apartments, offices, a hotel and spa, restaurants and shops. A public viewing gallery tops the tower.
