The little harbour at Nusfjord which is on Flakstad, one of the Lofoten Islands.
It is one of Norway’s oldest and best preserved fishing hamlets. This, however, is a pleasure trip boat moored up for the winter.
In the background on the rocks are some of the several drying racks still found throughout the village......previously so many that up to several million fish could be hung out. To ensure high quality, the stockfish has to be cleaned on the docks and racked on the same day it is caught. Stockfish was and still is Nusfjord’s main export, going to Africa, America, and Europe.
