CHURCHILL'S WINDOW

Madeira

The curved window on the right is known as Churchill's belvedere, reputedly another spot in Camara de Lobos where he often sat and painted. He first stayed on the island in 1899, en route to South Africa to report on the Boer War when he was a journalist. He returned for a year in 1949 before returning to England to win another general election in 1950
