The Municipal Gardens, located in the centre of Funchal, was once part of the Convent of Sao Francisco. The garden has some beautiful specimens from Madeira and all over the world, many of which are labelled with name & origin. It is now a leisure area for locals and visitors alike with a small pond with fountains, ducks and swans, a café and an amphitheatre.
