AUMBRY

Tortington - West Sussex

Church of St Mary Magdalene
An aumbry is a recess originally used for storing chalices. This one is now on the exterior of the chancel wall which suggests the wall is probably a remnant of a lost Lady chapel once recorded on the site, which was used in the building of the church.
