SHRINE & TAPESTRY

Chichester - West Sussex

The site of the original shrine and burial place of St Richard, which was destroyed by King Henry VIII in 1538, due to its popularity as a place of pilgrimage. The whereabouts of St Richard's remains today is still unclear. The restored area is once again a pilgrimage site. The 1966 tapestry represents aspects of the saint's life.
