The gothic church took over 170 years to complete from 1311-1484. It has two altars made by the famous wood carver, Tilman Riemenschneider. The high altar contains a small crystal believed in medieval times to hold a spot of Jesus' blood. Extensively damaged during WWII, the church has been undergoing massive renovations for many years.
