Looking south down the Schmiedgasse (Smithy Lane) which is one of the major streets of Rothenburg. It starts at the eastern corner of the Market Place and goes south to the Plönlein. On this street, there are some of the best shops and restaurants. Many are the former mansions of the city's wealthy merchants and the aristocrats in past times.
