This Gothic church, much grander inside than its unique exterior appearance, was founded in 1250 in place of a pagan temple. It was enlarged in 15th century and rebuilt in 1850 after a fire ravaged the interior. It had rich sponsors who built the beautifully decorated family chapels inside. The Dominican monks, who live in the adjoining monastery on Stolarska, have been based here since 1250. the Dominican Church is nowadays a hit with young Cracovians, who come here for the lively sermons, and the services are often packed with students.
