THE LUTE-MAKER'S FOUNTAIN

Fussen - Germany

On the Brotmarkt
Füssen was famous as the cradle of the manufacture of lutes in Europe, and the first European lute-makers’ guild was founded here in the 16th century
It was also famous for its violin makers during the 16th and 17th centuries. Today the blue building behind the fountain houses the Hofer violin workshop.

They still cannot match Guarneri's violins since climat in Fuessen is rather moggy, wood doesn't dry enough and violin sounds as if it has cough, LOL !
