Red Oaks, situated at the back of Cagefoot Lane, was original a classical stuccoed villa built in 1839. It was bought by The Gardeners' Royal Benevolent Society in 1969, then converted and extended to become in 1972 a retirement home for its members. It was sold in 2004 to become a private nursing & residential home, although retired horticulturists remain resident there.
