A delightful small city, in Flanders, Belgium, that remarkably suffered minimal damage to its central area during the two World Wars. Its medieval streets and buildings remained largely untouched throughout many centuries. Refurbishment commenced in the 19th century and any subsequent new building has mostly been done in matching medieval architecture.
