Philmont - June 2006

We made it back, no one was greviously injured, eaten by a bear, or left behind in the woods. :) We managed a backpacking trip around 80 miles with 8 scouts (Austin, James, Will, Jacob, Chris, Paul, Ben, and Patrick), and 4 adult advisors (2 dads, Hal McGee and Ed Horne, and Daniel and Alli). We hiked up two mountains, did a team challenge course, rock climbing, spar pole climbing, packed a burro for 2 days, and managed to go far too long without showers. And it was awesome! Outstanding journey. I have a crew going this summer (July 2007) and hope to have as much fun as ya'll did. Great trek and excellent pictures of your venture.

Love the pictures. My daughter (15) and I (mom) are going July 07. We have been looking at alot of pictures on the Philmont sites. Yours are so awesome. I hope to capture the beauty as you all did. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Thanks for posting your shots! It was a great trip down memory lane for me. It's been almost 30 years since my last visit to Philmont and I'm glad to see that it doesn't seem to have changed much. I can remember visiting the same camps you did. I can remember our trip up Baldy like it was last summer. Now I'll have to get out the slides from my trips.
