All over Paris you can find plaques and street signs that record historic figures or events. Even more moving are the plaques honouring the unknown heroes who died in a cause.

This inscription in the 3rd arrondisement remembers George Blariaux who died on 20th August 1944 "so France could live". May he rest in peace.
