The result of consumption

King Island, Tasmania, Australia

The King Island Council has done some innovative work on waste management (waster separation and efficient landfill) on the island. The reality however is that due to isolation and high freight costs, large scale recycling does not occur. What arrives on the island stays on the island. This is what this looks like before ending in landfill.

The time has come to think about what we throw away and why.

Wow, that's a pretty massive land fill site! Is that a tire in there? It's cool to me that we have areas just for our garbage. I mean, can you imagine having all of that riddled across our streets? That would be absolutely vile! http://www.berryandvalecontracting.ca/landfill_services.html
