Definition B: A posted command, warning or direction.
B2: Unlike road signs, street signs vary throughout the world. These photographs have been arranged to show a cross section of different street signs. Bi-lingual signs from countries that do not use the Roman alphabet are essential, seen in the photographs from Singapore, China, Morocco, Macau, India, Morocco and Greece. I have included the sign from France to show how important the shape of the sign is for direction. This is also true for the English sign, despite the fact that the information is written in English. I have included the photograph from Australia to show yet another variation of how important the shape of the sign is, in this example creating a cross to signify a railway crossing.
