Amid rolling hills and dense jungle the camps may appear idyllic. But conditions are very basic with little electricity or other infrastructure and the settlements are isolated due to poor roads and communications. This camp, a day's journey from Chiang Mai, has strict controls on entry and exit imposed by the Thai military. In practice the refugees are trapped.
