This man, Pong - whose nickname is tattooed many times upon his arm - was the owner of a cock which lost a fight. He was having a couple of beers with a friend; they agreed that losing is just part of life. The box contains a variety of spurs for cockfighting, of different sizes for cocks with different length legs. Pong took various spurs out to show me. They're tremendously sharp. The leg of the losing cock is towards the rear of the table. When I later took Pong's portrait he hid the leg, so that it wouldn't be part of the photograph - I think due to the shame of having a losing cock.
