Locals have own language, which is spoken by all the inhabitants of the island and which differs from Arabic, but they don't have written language. Here, adults still believe in witches and are afraid of scary stories.
They don't really like visitors from mainland Yemen and will be best friends for those who are interested in their island, their life, their history.
There is a lot here that you cannot find on the mainland: friendliness, openness, hospitality.
And... There are no dangerous mammals here. There are no snakes here. There are no armed people here. With the possible exception of airport security. Where you can get only once a week (from Saudi Arabia or from Dubai).
And the amount of luggage you can take with you is limited. And, perahps, you will sleep on the ground and the only place where you can find fresh water is nearest river. But... having been here once, you will rave about this corner of beauty, tranquility and hospitality every hour all your future life.
