All boy, Sunny Day, and a 50mm lens

Today was a beautiful day here in South Carolina. While the "experts" were calling for it to be in the 80's, I don't think it ever really reached that point. The wind was blowing slightly, and just enough cloud cover to keep the sun from being overbearing. Today was the perfect day to be outside.

Recently I purchased an OM 50mm 1.8 lens, and have been waiting on the right time to get to use it. I had a prom portrait session over the weekend, but was afraid to use this, because I had not as of then, and didn't want to risk the shots, due to the manual focus lens. So today I mounted it to my camera and had a wonderful time playing, while my boys enjoyed the great outdoors.(ok, our backyard part of the great outdoors, but you get the idea) The Entomologist climbed the tree adjacent to our backdeck and said, Mommie, take a picture. (who am I to tell him no?) I have many of his silly expressions, and seemingly uncomfortable positions, but this one was my favorite of them all. This is him, the way I see him, everyday. All boy, all the time.

I gave my best shot at black and white conversion. I am not sure if this is the best of B&W, but until I find what I like, this is it.

For many years (a long time ago) I shot nothing but BW. This picture is an excellent example of why. Here your attention is drawn immediately to the look on your son's face. It's a perfect tribute to childhood.
