This Cathedral is the definition of Norman Architecture and was built between 1118 and 1238, with subsequent additions and amendments. It only became a Cathedral in 1541, having previously been an abbey and a monastery, founded in 655 by King Paeda. It was the original burial place of two Queens, Katherine of Aragon and Mary, Queen of Scots, both buried by the same gravedigger and sexton, Robert Scarlett, whose memorial is included in these pictures.
