ATSF SD75Ms

These are the most recent Athearn Genesis release (2016) which includes additional underframe details. The only detail I changed on these units was the air horn -- Athearn had an M3 on them, which I changed to a K3 with reverse #4 bell (DW 253). Replaced the couplers with Kadee 158s painted MM Leather and drybrushed with Floquil Roof Brown. The rest of the work was repainting the rear numberboards silver (which were white from the factory!), making the various grab irons the proper combination of silver/yellow, silver/red or red/yellow, and painting the bottom of handrail stanchions red to match the surface area they are mated to. Weathering consisted of a 15/1 black to dark brown mix for exhaust on top, a 19/1 mix of black to dark gray for the grills on the hood sides, a light application of AIM dark gray powder to the walkways and steps and then sprays of MM dark skin tone and then Floquil Mud below the walkway. The goal was to represent these units after just a few months of service since these were some of the last units to enter service on the Santa Fe. Note that the photo of the two cabs on the workbench shows the out-of-the-box grab iron colors on the left and the cab on the right as proper colors. Same with the rear view of the long hood on the workbench -- colors match the prototype.
