Rhine River Valley Castles

This area of the Rhine River Valley is a United Nations World Heritage site; about 40 castles and other sorts of structures on a 65 km stretch of river. Most of these were first built in the 12th or 13th century; all of them were destroyed by the French in 1689.

Great pictures! I love how the castles look like they are part of hills, they make great pieces of art.
