Borneo, the world's third largest island, is comprised of three countries, East Malaysia (Sabah), Brunei and Indonesia.
The island is covered with tropical rain forest and mountains. The rain forest plays host to a vast array of wildlife including Orangutan, Elephant and Sumatran Rhino, as well as the rare Probiscus Monkey. Mount Kinabalu is the backdrop to Kota Kinabalu City and is the highest mountain in South East Asia.
Borneo was home to the famous Borneo Head Hunter and Kadazan Warrior, Monsopiad. Monsopiad believed he had been given a gift of special powers by a bird when he was born and later used these powers to behead 42 powerful warriors and enemies in battle. He used to hunt his enemies and bring home their heads as trophies. The 42 skulls are displayed in his home village, named after him.
