Donna and I traveled to Maui, Hawaii, for what was one of my favorite vacation journeys ever. After visiting all of the "Lower 48" states in the '70s and '80s, I feel blessed that I had this opportunity. It was Donna's second trip to Hawaii, her first to Maui. We had wonderful accommodations at Kaanapali Beach and Lahaina on the west shore, and traveled all over the island for a week. My favorite experiences included the Road to Hana; a catamaran excursion to tiny Molokini island for partying/snorkeling/lunch/photos; a classy sunset luau at Black Rock on the west shore; visits with our dear friends Martha and Rob, who relocated from California three years ago to the quaint Upcountry region of Maui; two music events - one at Stella Blues to see Anuhea with Rob and Martha and then to the small town of Makawao for a public-radio benefit performance by Eddie Tanaka as Rob video-recorded the band.
