Thanks, Ana, for thinking of me. It is a very special image to me because of its incongruities. Your work is often based on them, but these incongruities were very special to me because they remind me of how I see. As for this image being "worthy," rest assured that it is an expressive image. We should not measure the value of an image by the number of people who might comment on it or vote for it. If a photograph can speak to just one person's imagination, and make a memorable imprint, it is a successful image. I know of at least two people who are moved by what you've accomplished here, Ana. You and me. If others are able to eventually share in its pleasures, all the better.
Yes Phil :) This photo was for you!! Actually, I wanted to make a dedication with an html caption like it's there now, but since html code doesn't come to my mind imediately I've left it for later, so that I had time to check how to do it properly... It turns out that you've found the photo first!!!!!
I am so glad you liked it.
When I took it, I remembered your photos indeed. I do like this photo a lot and it seems like it is really a good example of that hard to say word you use so much "incongruity". It's one of my favorites from the ones I took in the city of Porto, but it seems like there aren't many people who feel it worthy, so I am extra glad it was you after all that saw what's special in it...
Thanks Phil.
I must have been in the back of your mind when you made this, Ana -- it is my kind of shot, full of scale incongruity, subject incongruity, and well abstracted. The statues watch him work, only he does not realize it. The same principle as my shot of the guy on the cell phone being overheard by a statue athttp://www.pbase.com/pnd1/image/45578128 Love it.
