White Flint Mall in North Bethesda, MD, is scheduled to be demolished. Many shops have closed, others soon will.
For many years White Flint was one of the top upscale shopping malls in the Washington area, but, recently due to competition from larger malls in the area,
it has fallen on hard times. It will soon be torn down and replaced with a larger, more modern facility in keeping with the master plan for the area.
These shots were taken on a Sunday afternoon, a time when many U.S. malls are teeming with shoppers.
As one woman said to me as I was walking around with my camera - it's a ghost town.
Not long ago this was Bloomingdales

Bloomingdales was the "anchor" for White Flint

It seems rather wasteful to tear down a building that is in such good condition
