Kona was fitted with an e-collar last Saturday to use as a training aid. It comes with a remote control and when the button is pushed he gets a tiny jolt of electricity from the box that you can see under his chin. The jolt is tiny enough that I could not feel it on the palm of my hand at the level we are using, but it’s enough that he doesn’t like it and learned in about 15 minutes that he can avoid it by responding to our commands (come and sit, so far). It’s operant conditioning – thank you B.F. Skinner.
While we can now say that Kona runs on electricity, he still seems gas-powered from time to time. But let’s not talk about that. . .
The collar, by the way, is a Dogtra 200NCP Gold.
