Arenal Volcano National Park is in the north central region of Costa Rica. Since its violent eruption of 1968 which destroyed a nearby village and killed over 80 people, the volcano has been Costa Rica's most active volcano. Frequent eruptions and hot lava flows provide a remarkable show.
