After the New Year, the northeast trades had finally filled in and we all left to cross the Andaman Sea and the Bay of Bengal to Shri Lanka. Half way across, Alex and I were on watch at night picking out the various constellations when he turned to me and said, “You know it's really neat to know that to the north of us there is Bangladesh; but, to the south of us there is nothing until you get to Antarctica. Now how many kids have that kind of perception as to where they are in the world?
