In fact on our first trip to Fiji in 1972, we got caught in an early hurricane at the end of November and we did not want to experience that again. Luckily that time we were able to get up a river and into a mangrove swamp so we were safe. But we might not be so lucky if it happened again. So we left Fiji bound for New Zealand which is south of the hurricane belt.
