So that September we quit our jobs, rented the house loaded the boat with our essential goods and headed south down the island waterway chasing the sun as it worked its way towards the southern hemisphere.

But since the passage between the east coast of the US and the virgin islands in the fall can be pretty bad and we certainly didn't want the kids to have a bad passage for their first offshore trip, Kitty and the kids would fly down and a good friend and sailor, Pip Wick would sail with me on that first leg.
