We went from Sao Nicolau to Mindelo where we only stayed a few days before leaving for the Caribbean. It was already December 2 and we had over 2,300 miles to sail before reaching St Maarten where we were going to meet our son Spencer for Christmas. Now we were in the trades and would be sailing mostly downwind the whole way and like Shadowfax behind us.....
