As was a boat called Damerus Tau with a single-hander called Blackie. Actually Blackie and four other guys had built the boat in Portland Oregon. They made a pact that if anyone wanted to leave the boat, they could do so; but, they could not force the others to buy his share. In other words, the boat would keep going until the last guy wanted out. On the leg from San Diego to Honduras, they were becalmed for 25 days and when they finally reached Honduras the four other guys got off the boat and said, ”I’m out of here!” The last we saw Blackie, he left Tahiti with a beautiful Tahitian girl.
