As you walk through the Minnamurra Rainforest, there's a side track that you can take which will lead you up to Minnamurra Falls. And MOST of the trail, which runs for a couple of kilometres, is THIS steep.
That doesn't look too bad, you think? Observe how little of the trail you can see in this picture before it curves around out of sight. Now, dear viewers, work out what the difference in elevation is between where I'm (barely still) standing, and the last part of the path that you can see. Now imagine walking over that for hundreds of metres. Now imagine it with an 055DB tripod, a 40D, a 70-200 and two other lenses.
Now imagine working out a way of getting your body back down the hill like I did. Still, I lost 2kg (I kid you not) as a result of this walk, so it wasn't all bad. But two pieces of advice:
- The falls probably aren't worth the effort unless it's been raining heavily;
- Go on an overcast day, or the contrast when you get there will kill your shots. The park doesn't open until 9, and closes at 5 so you have NO chance of getting early morning / late evening shots.
