The narrow and often steep pathways that can be found around the Pyrmont area would once have serviced the quarries, and later the wharves, warehouses and workers' cottages that populated the area. Walking through them at night would not be recommended without being part of a heavily armed S.A.S. detachment.

These days they go past immaculately groomed and ridiculously expensive apartment blocks.

Edit September 2023: At lunchtime on a (now long distant) Friday afternoon in late summer, they also represent a significant amount of workout effort. I still remember my many walks up that hill in the years that I worked there... though perhaps not as clearly as I would like. It has been years since I've even looked at this photo, and am only doing so now as part of my lengthy process to pack up ahead of departing PBase (before it departs for me).
