Updated September 2023:

My original commentary from the mid-2000s read thus: "This shot (or a shrunken down permutation of it) is the wallpaper on my home PC. It's the break I have when I can't take a break. At one time I dreamt of moving down here and growing carrots. That was before I found Kiama."

Apparently the original was a 2000 pixel wide faux-panorama which I note that I replaced on 18-Feb-08 with "a reduced one. It doesn't do justice to the original, but at least it's easier on the bandwidth and your scrolling controls". Of course...back in those days 2000 pixel wide monitors weren't that common. These days, however...

It's not the only sign of moving times. I had quite a romantic view of Kiama then (I suppose in comparison to Belmore, that's not hard) but while I still like the place, I don't think I'd ever want to live there. Also I'm not sure that I would stick the word "Paradise" in the title of a shot of Gerringong, though it still is one damn nice little village which I always enjoy visiting.

You won't ever see this scene exactly as it is again. First of all there are some power lines that will obstruct your view a little around the top right of the image and it's hard to move forward enough to drop them out of sight. More significantly, part of that elevated spit of land running out to the sea in the centre of the image has been built up as housing now. (And it wouldn't surprise me if more were to come there.)
