After a few grim shots in this album/gallery, finally the winds eased (though it was still a bit gusty on the beach), the clouds split (though sunrise was at 06:04 but the orb didn't put in an appearance for a good 5 minutes afterwards because of cloud on the horizon), and I was able to get a beach sunrise shot.
Actually I took many. Some of them aren't quite dripping with golden light the way this one is, but this one was unusual enough for me to nominate it as the PAD candidate as soon as I saw it.
First, there is the golden light, so absent for days. Second is the silhouette of a guy who decided to walk to the end of the rock pool to capture the sunrise. It looked to me like he wasn't using his phone but rather a compact, possibly something in the Olympus Tough class. (Which reminds me, mine is overdue for some work.) Finally a wave had just broken against the pool wall (not one of the larger ones that morning) and was providing a silver curtain of droplets in front of him.
Yup, I won't be getting a shot like that again any time soon. That's the one.
Happy sunrise, Sydney and Illawarra. After this week's weather, you've earned it.
