I shouldn't have taken the 60mm macro lens off the OM-5. I really shouldn't.
Viewers of the past shots in this gallery / album (depending on where you see it) will be aware that I needed a sunset golden hour for a shot I have wanted to do for the past several days.
The morning dawned about 4 oktas overcast. That soon burnt off to produce yet another blisteringly incandescent and baking day.
Which, around 15:30, gave way to yet another massive bank of clouds with yet more thunderbolts and lightning (very very frightening). Thankfully Puss was here to dive under my desk and protect me from the Sky Monsters in case they attacked from that direction. This time the clouds also had rain, which hit the ground and instantly evaporated, turning into steam. That pushed the humidity levels from "outer suburbs of Hell" to "a place in Hell's CBD with a panoramic vista of the steam pits".
It is still raining as I write this at 19:25.
Now, I could go out and do a night shot once the grey sunlight finally goes but that won't be until about 20:40. And while I have been indoors in air conditioning for most of the day, I spent enough out in the solar radiation extravaganza to get sweaty enough to need a hair wash. Which I hate doing at night, but that's a different conversation. Also I have to get up early in the morning to hit the gym and then it's a lovely day of work ahead.
Also, before I go to bed (with hopefully mostly dry hair), I want to get some work done. No, not work-work, me-work. Because doing work-work on a Sunday evening, I have decided, is a case of "screw that for a game of soldiers".
The point, I come to it.
(a) I don't want to go out after sunset to do a night time shot which may or may not have nice, wet reflective road surfaces; but equally
(b) I don't want to stop doing a photo every day so early in the year; so
(c) Here's a macro shot of my dessert with a long-winded explanation of how it became my daily subject.
On the bright side, the macro lens is getting more work than it has done for a while now.
