It's always important to limber up before the game. Here 11 of the A.S. Roma players stretch themselves out. Some of the identities are obvious; Chris Smalling and Tammy Abraham on the left, Dean Huijsen and Diego Llorente to the right of them; others are harder to make out because of the angle. I suspect I know who they are, but I'd rather put no information than bad information in case I misidentify someone.
Since there are 11, obviously not everyone here is one of the starters. (They're all wearing outfielder uniforms, and we know the goalkeepers are practising elsewhere on the pitch.) So someone here is an interloper, but I'm sure that nobody minds.
Part of me feels envious of the sport photographers that we can see in the background; obviously they would have a great opportunity to get some excellent shots. But on the other hand, being up in the stands I get a better overview of what's happening in the field. That said, I'm obviously not there just to photograph the match but to enjoy it, study and analyse the tactics, and generally get the big picture vibe that you don't get if you spend the 90 minutes looking through a lens.
So I guess it's a case of swings and roundabouts.
