230114_060938_0095 Sun, Sand, Ships, Seagulls And Surfers Stretching (Sat 14 Jan)

Regardless of the merits or otherwise of the shot, it's certainly a feast for the alliteration.

It had rained overnight, so I decided that a run would be a better form of exercise. Then I decided that I hadn't had my camera out in far too long, and converted the run to a walk (because you certainly don't want to be running with 1/2 a kilogram lens and its attached camera bouncing around on you), and that meant a sunrise shot. Naturally I decided to opt for my relatively new 7 to 14 mm f/2.8 lens.

The air was quite sticky, and the weather couldn't quite make up its mind. As you can see, there was extensive cloud cover, although there was enough of a gap to let the sun through to some extent. I was trying to get a combination of the orange sun lighting up the horizon, and the grey clouds which you can see dumping rain on the horizon. As I was doing so a female surfer made her way down to the water's edge in front of me and started stretching exercises. In the meantime, some seagulls took off and flew in front of the relatively cloudless gap between the horizon and the band of clouds above. It would be pushing it to call this a planned shot, but obviously I took advantage of what was on offer.
