My first experiments playing with some lens balls that I received for Christmas. In this case I took them down to McCauley's beach, not long after dawn on a day which had a gauzy sea mist hanging over the coast which in turn gave the sky a nice gradient.
I therefore have an inverted miniature of the whole of McCauley's beach heading down to the Sandon Point headland, encapsulated in a ball.
I thought this worked rather well.
There was, however, a dark side to the morning's shoot.
Some time later when I had my wide-angle lens on just doing some shots of the Sandon Point headland in the distance, there was a sudden flash of white with flecks of colour in the electronic viewfinder. After that... my E-M1 was dead. Changed lenses? Nope. Changed battery? Nope. Changed SD card? Nope. Dead, dead, dead. Defunct. Dodo like. Deceased and departed.
Immediately after a guy with two Boxers walked past, a mum and her daughter, according to their dad. Could I get a shot of them?
Not with a dead camera, no. Now the question is... how much would a repair cost? This may in fact be one of the last shots that you see from my E-M1 Mk I, 2013-2020, RIP. (?)
This is one final "frack you" from 2020 to me. Or at least I hope it's the final one.
At least I have the E-M5 II to step up to the plate.
