One last shot for the evening. It had taken us about half an hour on the tube to get back to the street that our hotel was on (as you can see from the timestamps that I have been using for the picture names).
In Australia, you are supposed to park on the left of the road (with a few exceptions that don't apply here) in the direction of the traffic. One thing that stood out in Pimlico, and it may well be the case in London in general, is that people were less fussed about following this convention. There is a very good reason for the convention, which is primarily that you do not want a car to be pulling out and cutting across you as you are driving along the road. However I imagine that if it was a major problem, the traffic cops would be having a field day and raising lots and lots of lovely revenue.
And this brought our day to an end. The hotel did not have a restaurant for dinner, simply a buffet for breakfast. We talked about going out for dinner to one of the nearby restaurants, but frankly after a ridiculously long journey and a very long day, sleep won out. Eating could wait until the breakfast in the morning.
