There are four lions surrounding the column of Nelson in Trafalgar Square. Naturally, the lion is the symbol of England.
Just as naturally, people can't resist getting an up close and personal photograph with the lions. This guy is really fortunate that bronze lions are not known for coming to life and swatting people who dare to sit between their paws. Because I can tell you now, that would hurt.
Unfortunately at times the tourists damage the lions by climbing on them. This guy seems okay in that he is only climbing on the concrete support. But naturally some take it too far and climb on top of the lions, damaging their backs. There was a proposal to prohibit climbing on the lions but thus far it has not been imposed.
