In Italy there are of course many famous regional dishes, or "piatti locali". English cuisine on the other hand is a little more... basic. Though you do of course have to try it. In this case, fish and chips and mushy peas are such typical London fare that I felt almost obligated to order it.
Where were we? In a café which now occupies the space that was once the crypt under the church of St Martin-in-the-Fields. This killed 3 birds with one stone; it got us out of the rain, it checked off one of the places that I had listed to see, and it gave us a pretty decent meal at the same time. I do recommend a visit should you ever be in the neighbourhood. We'll see more of the crypt in the next couple of images.
