Trafalgar Square, London view map

Isis members really are the scum of the earth and the dregs of humanity. They bring nothing into the world except a burning desire to put their boots on as many throats as possible. This of course comes as news to nobody but it's a point worth making because it leads us here.

In the previous shot I alluded to four plinths around Trafalgar Square which contain statues. Three have permanent statues (Major General Sir Henry Havelock and General Charles James Napier on the southern plinths, and an equestrian statue of King George IV on the north east one), and one has a rotating exhibit.

As of the time of writing and since 28 March 2018, the fourth plinth has carried a work by Michael Rakowitz whose title appears in this photo's caption. Wikipedia describes it thus:
"A recreation of a sculpture of a lamassu (a winged bull and protective deity) that stood at the entrance to Nergal Gate of Nineveh from 700 B.C. It was destroyed in 2015 by Isis, along with other artefacts in the Mosul Museum. Rakowitz's recreation is made of empty Iraqi date syrup cans, representing the destruction of the country's date industry."

Those cans can be seen making up the legs of the figure. The original survived 2,700 years, and was lost to mankind because... because... well, because some people are human excrement rather than humans, is what it comes down to.
